American National Bank Building

This bank was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1997. Located on South Olive Avenue, it’s been a fixture in the community since 1921. It was built in the 1920s as a way to accommodate the growing population of residents and visitors to the area.

Alfred J. Comeau House

This home on Flamingo Drive was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in the year 2000. It’s part of the Flamingo Park Historic District. It has a Mission and Spanish Revival architectural style and the architect was Harvey and Clarke. This beautiful house is surrounded by green hedges and palm trees. Built in 1924, this gorgeous home offers a glimpse into the architectural past of the residents in West Palm Beach.

Norton House

This historic home belongs to the El Cid Historic District in West Palm Beach. It was registered as a historic place in 1990 on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The location is part of the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, a property that features over 100 sculptures created by Ann Weaver Norton. The gardens are filled with beautiful native plants and creative art pieces. The house was designed in 1925 by the architect Maurice Fatio. It contains coquina pathways and cypress ceilings. The home, art studio, and gardens were entered into the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. There is plenty to see at this destination and you’ll want to visit all that the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens has to offer.

Old West Palm Beach National Guard Armory

This historic building was built in 1939 by William Manley King, a well-known architect of the time. The building has served multiple purposes over the years. It’s been a site for the National Guard’s armory, school dances for a local high school, and an art class center when the Norton School of Art closed its doors and needed a place for its students. This Art Moderne style building became a registered historic place in 1992.

Courthouse in Downtown West Palm Beach

The 1916 courthouse located in the downtown area of West Palm Beach is now home to a historical museum. Open to the public since 2008, the historical courthouse building offers free admission to the museum. The museum contains interesting exhibits that preserve the local history of the West Palm Beach area. However, the trip to the museum is worth it just to see the impressive courthouse building. The courthouse has been restored, and in addition, to the museum it also houses the Historical Society of Palm Beach County’s headquarters.
